We live as never before a competition between different telecommunications operators that use different platforms and technologies that offer Internet access service. 30 years ago we had a vertical structure of differentiated networks for services and today we have a “transversal structure” where different operators become ISPs = Internet service providers. This is how we are now competing with cable, telephony and wireless companies or WISP. A new stage in this process of evolution that we call “ISP Convergence”.
The idea of this seminar is to analyze the multiple platforms available to understand the strengths and weaknesses of each one so that we can prepare to operate a “Single convergent network”, Also to be able to add VALUE To Internet service, we will have to be able to evolve from ISP to DSP by becoming “Digital Service Providers”.

The application of fiber optic in telecommunications systems has been consolidated over the years to replace metal cables due to their characteristics of high transmission capacity, electromagnetic immunity, reduced dimensions and weight, among others. These characteristics meet the new market needs of high data storage capacity and transmission speed between data centers that, following a new network topology, are decentralized and located in separate units near the end user.
This new network topology scenario requires differentiated cables from today’s standardized cables.
